HOUSTON — Carlos Correa’s trip through free agency this winter — he agreed to deals with two different teams who then balked at his physical — was filled with twists, turns and drama. But when the dust settled, when Correa finally returned to the Twins on a deal that would keep him in Minnesota for at least six seasons, his teammates rejoiced, knowing what having him on their side would mean for the organization and its future.“He brings winning, championships, whatever it may be,” designated hitter Royce Lewis said. “He brings winning to the table. I knew we were going to be a part of something special.”Correa may not have performed up to his standards during the regular season, but October is his time, the time of year when he helps will his team to victory. He’s proven that again and again. And he did so again on Sunday. Needing a win to avoid going home in an 0-2 hole, Correa went 3 for 4, driving in three runs. The Twins coupled that with a dominant, scoreless seven-inning effort...

Vikings rookie Jordan Addison is the next man up if superstar Justin Jefferson is out

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 20:37:50 GMT

Let’s just get something out in the open. Nobody is capable of replacing superstar receiver Justin Jefferson. He’s arguably the best player in the league at his position, and thus, an incomparable player for the Vikings.Still, if Jefferson is forced to miss an extended period for the Vikings after suffering a hamstring injury, rookie receiver Jordan Addison seems capable of stepping up.He proved as much on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium, serving as a spark plug for the Vikings in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Though he didn’t get behind the defense like he has a couple of times this season, Addison poured in his most complete game to date, finishing with six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.Asked if he feels like he’s the next man up, Addison noted how every receiver on the Vikings is going to have to do a little bit more.“We have all of our guys starting to think like that now,” Addison said. “It’s going to be a hell of...

It used to be in the 25-mile zone, you’d see people going 40, 45 (miles per hour). Now, they’re going 55 and 60 in residential areas in 25, so we had to crack down on that,” he said. SANTA CLARA — It was a nearly perfect game for the 49ers.It was a performance so dominant, it allowed those poor souls on the East Coast — subject to an 8:20 p.m. kickoff time — to go to sleep at a reasonable hour.It was perhaps the single best game the 49ers have played under head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers’ 42-10 win over the Cowboys was so dominant that it feels ridiculous to declare studs and duds — the 49ers were the former, the Cowboys, the latter — but we endeavor, nevertheless:STUDSFred Warner LBWarner’s forced fumble of Cowboys running back Tony Pollard at the end of the first quarter was the kind of impact play that few NFL defenders can produce. It should have been a turning point in the contest, but Christian McCaffrey’s fumble at the 2-yard line gave the ball right back to Dallas.Warner, of course, ended that subsequent Dallas drive with a sack of Dak Prescott in the open field. He had eight tackles, that sack, and a fourth-quarter interception.I tal...

Perhaps. But this certainly was the 49ers’ most dominant victory in their 5-0 start to this season, and while it came in the NFL’s showcase timeslot, it also attracted franchise legends such as Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Frank Gore, and Bryant Young.“Let’s go!” tight end George Kittle shouted to the capacity crowd via the stadium’s giant video screens, after scoring one of his career-high three touchdown catches from Brock Purdy’s on-the-mark passes.Purdy finished with a career-high four touchdown passes, Christian McCaffrey chimed in with his 14th consecutive game with a touchdown (1-yard run), and, in representing the 49ers’ menacing defense, Fred Warner produced a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception.“That was our best c...
