It continues to be a rite of the Gophers football season: The team wears a new and unique alternate jerseys, and the fashion choice riles up a segment of the fan base.The latest example was Minnesota wearing primarily black helmets, jerseys and pants for their 25-6 victory over Eastern Michigan at Huntington Bank Stadium on Sept. 9.Head coach P.J. GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The railway overpass on Maple Avenue has been struck again. Glenville Police say the latest incident happened on Sunday afternoon. The entire roof of the box truck was torn off.The driver, Timothy Boardwell, 35, of Garden City, Idaho, told police he was delivering packages. His GPS directed him onto Maple Avenue. Boardwell was cited for failure to obey a traffic device and the Glenville Town Code violation for disobeying an over-height warning.No injuries were reported. Maple Avenue was closed for two hours. HILLSBORO, Mo. -- A 41-year-old woman died while being detained for a probation violation at the Jefferson County Jail Sunday. Earlier that day, Melissa Miles of Robertsville had returned to the facility from a hospital.The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says that Miles was being held by herself in a medical area. They found her unresponsive at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.Investigators do not suspect foul-play in this death. The Regional Medical Examiner's Office examined her body and found no signs of assault. Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller told suspended football coach Mel Tucker Monday that he will be fired without compensation for misconduct involving activist and rape survivor Brenda Tracy.“The notice provides Tucker with seven calendar days to respond and present reasons to me and the interim president as to why he should not be terminated for cause,” Haller said in a statement sent by the school.Tucker is in the third year of a $95 million, 10-year contract and if he is fired for cause, the school would not have to pay him what’s remaining on his deal.Haller said the decision does not affect the ongoing investigation into Tracy’s allegations of sexual harassment, which is being handled by the school’s office for civil rights.Tracy said Tucker sexually harassed her during a phone call in April 2022. A former councilman for the city of Compton has been arrested on a federal grand jury indictment accusing him and a consulting client of paying $70,000 in bribes to another politician in exchange for for marijuana permits, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.Isaac Jacob Galvan, 36, was arrested Monday at his Compton home on a 10-count indictment filed earlier this month.Also arrested as part of the bribery scheme was Yichang Bai, 50, of Arcadia, the owner and operator of W&F International Corp., a Diamond Bar-based import-export business.Galvan and Bai are charged with one count each of conspiracy and bribery, and eight counts of honest services wire fraud, officials said.Galvan allegedly paid the funds to a “corrupt” member of the Baldwin Park City Council, identified as Ricardo Pacheco, for votes and to support commercial marijuana permits for Bai’s corporation.Back in 2017, Baldwin Park began allowing the cultivation, manufacture and distribution of marijuana within c...Latest news
