ST. LOUIS - In a season largely filled with frustration and disappointment, the St. Louis Cardinals only needed 24 hours to come up with two of their most thrilling wins this season. And both ended in very similar fashion. Tommy Edman delivered walk-off hits in back-to-back games, a Tuesday evening showdown and a Wednesday matinée, to help the Cardinals steal a series victory over the San Diego Padres. On Tuesday, the Cardinals forced extra innings, and Edman delivered a walkoff bloop to left-center for a 6-5 win. On Wednesday, the Cardinals trailed in the ninth inning, and Edman slugged a two-out, two-run home run to cap a 5-4 victory. Five missed opportunities in Adam Wainwright’s pursuit for 200 wins "Crazy," said Edman after his second walk-off hit via Bally Sports Midwest. "A lot more fun when you win. Stayed in the fight for both games and fortunately came out on top in both." Both of his walk-off hits came against All-Star relief pitcher and former division foe Josh Hader....Manager of local McDonald’s receives global recognition award

A newspaper executive once confided in me that the company's goal was to get people to subscribe with credit cards so the paper could automatically renew the subscription annually. It's a business model that applies to virtually all companies that rely on subscriptions for revenue. And a key reason many firms like it is because people often forget they've subscribed and don't pay attention when subscriptions automatically renew.Nowadays, with streaming services on the rise, this is a practice that consumers need to be especially wary of.Researchers at Stanford and Texas A&M used credit card records to spot the pattern. They found that when credit cards were lost or expired, and when card issuers would ask if the cardholder wanted to maintain various regular payments, many people canceled their subscriptions.Which is to say, these subscriptions were largely out of sight and out of mind. But when reminded that they're making monthly or annual payments, many consumers choose to clean ...Metrolink offers $10 holiday pass for Labor Day

Asked if there’s a chance they trade Bosa, Lynch replied: “No, there isn’t.”Bosa’s holdout has stretched throughout all of training camp and the preseason while the 49ers negotiate with his agent for likely the biggest contract in NFL history for a non-quarterback.“I thought (a deal) would come probably at this time, looking at the history of those things,” Shanahan added. “I’m really hoping it gets done. I know they’re working tirelessly. Hopefully we can get him in sooner than later.”Can he imagine not having Bosa on this team?“I can imagine anythi...The nine most expensive homes reported sold in Milpitas in the week of Aug. 21
