On June 21, a vote takes place in Paris to determine who will host the 2027 World’s Fair. Minnesota’s bid to host has four competitors – Serbia, Argentina, Thailand, and Spain.I’m confident we will win. Here’s why.First, our bid has strong support from national and local leaders.Minnesota’s congressional delegation, both Republicans and Democrats, have been enthusiastic backers since the beginning. Reps. Emmer, McCollum, and Phillips crafted and passed vital legislation and Rep. Omar spoke eloquently for our bid at crucial international meetings. All our recent U.S. senators – Boschwitz, Coleman, Franken, Klobuchar, and Smith championed Minnesota’s bid, as did Govs. Pawlenty, Dayton and Walz. This bi-partisan approach was key to official approval from Presidents Obama, Trump, and Biden.Second, we have a universally relevant theme, “Good Health and Wellbeing.”One of the founders of the Minnesota bid, business leader Marilyn Carlson Nelson, brought this theme forward with strong endor...2023 NASCAR Enjoy Illinois 300 Race taking place today

Shae Holmes doesn’t want to hear your wise cracks about having bad knees. Hers are so scarred up she’s got two separate cadavers holding them together.Yet even after three ACL tears between both knees plus having an ALL, a backup ACL on her right just in case, Holmes still puts on her OL Reign jersey every Saturday. The Highlands Ranch defender who spent five years at the University of Washington and countless hours in physical therapy is making her way through her rookie season in the NWSL — healthy, at long last. The third ACL tear of her soccer career left the biggest doubt, if only for a moment. It happened in 2021 against Utah, and her longest supporters, her parents and grandparents, plus longtime head coach Lorne Donaldson, were in attendance. Even Donaldson recalled thinking, “This might be the end of her, now.” Not Holmes.“Here I am thinking, ‘When can your body stop? When do you start thinking about your life after soccer?'” H...Eaton’s Walker Martin, national home run leader and top draft prospect, could be Colorado’s next homegrown MLB star

He was named after Larry Walker, grew up emulating Troy Tulowitzki and morphed into the best player to come out of Colorado’s most storied high school baseball program. The name to remember is Walker Martin. He’s got the tools and potential to be the state’s next great homegrown baseball star, and if the scouts are correct, Martin will be a major-league household name by the end of the decade. The country’s most prolific power hitter with 20 homers this year, Martin is likely to be picked high in July’s draft. Every MLB team is interested in the shortstop, who could be the first Colorado high schooler drafted in the first three rounds since Cherry Creek’s Darnell McDonald went No. 26 overall to the Orioles in 1997.Martin is well aware of those stakes, especially in a state known more for producing pro pitchers than hitters.“I take a lot of pride in being a Colorado kid,” Martin said. “It’s what keeps me going and it’s that chip that’s always on my shoulder. Five years ago, while running for governor, Gavin Newsom pledged to transform California’s medical care to a single-payer system similar to those in Canada and western Europe.Newsom backed single-payer legislation, which had passed the state Senate, saying there was “no reason to wait around.”“I’m tired of politicians saying they support single-payer but that it’s too soon, too expensive or someone else’s problem,” Newsom said. His position helped solidify support for Newsom among the proposal’s progressive advocates as he dueled with a fellow Democrat, Antonio Villaraigosa. The bill stalled in the Assembly, and after winning the election, Newsom began edging away from the single-payer concept, citing difficult barriers. One is persuading the federal government to give California the $200-plus billion it spends on Californians’ health care – about half the state’s total medical expenditures.Newsom segued into pursuing universal health care, meaning all of the nearly 40 mil...Mueren 4 niños tras quedar atrapados en la marea mientras pescaban en Quebec, según la policía
