Oakland to rename street to honor late rapper Tupac Shakur  The city of Oakland is renaming a street to honor the late rapper Tupac Shakur. A stretch of MacArthur Boulevard by Lake Merritt, the street where he once lived, will be called “Tupac Shakur Way.”  The street will be marked with commemorative plaques and signs to “remind people of Shakur’s contributions to Oakland and celebrate art and culture as a catalyst for societal change,” the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Shakur was born in Harlem in 1971 as Lesane Parish Crooks, and later located to Oakland in 1988. Shakur sold over 75 million records worldwide and was considered one of the most influential rappers to date. Riverside locals upset over excessive speeding after crash kills 8-year-old boy Riverside residents are upset over excessive speeding after a violent head-on crash killed an 8-year-old boy and left four others seriously injured on Tuesday.Neighbors who live in the area said speeding is an ongoing issue. San Mateo man arrested on suspicion of arranging to meet underage girl for sex SAN MATEO – Authorities this week arrested a 35-year-old San Mateo man on suspicion of setting up a meeting to have sex with someone he believed to be 14 years old.The arrest stemmed from an investigation into a report of man who was having sexual conversations with a minor, according to the San Mateo Police Department.Detectives posed as a 14-year-old girl and received explicit texts and pictures from the man, police said, adding that he arranged to meet her at Laurie Meadows Park to have “sexual relations.”The man was arrested Tuesday when he entered the park and approached an undercover officer, according to police.Detectives obtained search warrants for the suspect, as well as for his home, car and electronics. San Mateo police arrest suspected pedophile (KRON) -- The San Mateo Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday for arranging to meet a minor "for lewd purposes." SMPD said the suspect sent explicit texts to detectives posing as a 14-year-old girl. The detectives sent texts to Richard Smith, a 35-year-old San Mateo man, where they identified themselves as a "14-year-old girl." Even with this knowledge, Smith agreed to meet what he believed to be the girl at Laurie Meadows Park on Tuesday for sexual relations, police said.
